Regina Surfacing Tissue and Veil has been designed for use in the surface layer of a GRP or FRP product where a high quality surface finish is required.
Regina tissue will prevent cracking or crazing of the coating, stop water penetration and will outlast a non-tissue surface by many years. Tissue with both standard and fast wet out are available. Regina SA tissue provides a standard wet out suitable for manual lay up. The styrene-acrylic binder is compatible with all types of vinyl ester, polyester and epoxy resins.
Regina LN tissue includes a styrene based binder providing a faster wet out.
Regina surfacing Tissue meets the requirements of:
British Standard BS4994
"Design and Construction of Vessels and Tanks in Reinforced Plastics".
US Standard ASME/ANSI RPT-1-1989
"Reinforced Thermoset Plastic Corrosion Resistant Equipment".
P250 AL to P900 AL surface tissue has been designed for use for the surface protection of FRP/GRP products, where a high quality surface finish is required without the cost of a full gel-coat, or where there is risk of "print through" of the reinforcing mat. Correct use will avoid cracking or crazing of the coating and can reduce water penetration. Any intermediate thickness can be produced between 250 micron and 900 micron.
The corrosion resistance is Acid Class 1, (DIN12116), Alkali Class 2 (DIN52322) and Hydrolytic Class 3 (DIN12111). The binder, a styrene acrylate copolymer, is compatible with all types of vinyl-ester, polyester and epoxy resins.
The AL surface tissue is used in the inner corrosion barrier to form a resin-richness for additional weathering protection. The tissue meets the requirements of British Standard BS 4994, "Design and Construction of Vessels and Tanks in Reinforced Plastics", and American Standard ASME/ANSI RPT-1-1989, "Reinforced Thermoset Plastic Corrosion Resistant Equipment"
The tissue is made from five or six layers of continuous fibres, 12 micron dia. of a low-melt, corrosion resistant glass,C-glass (ASTM C162-93),randomly dispersed across the sheet.
Regina Glass Fibre Moulding Tissue has been designed to give a reinforced resin rich surface to moulded GRP parts produced by hand lay-up or by hot/cold press techniques. The tissues are soft, allowing moulding around contours such as in surf boards, small boats, furniture and automotive cowlings. The tissue ensures a high quality, corrosion resistant surface giving a long life product.
Moulding tissues are available with acrylic (Regina RA) binders, acrylic designed for general moulding.
Regina surfacing Tissue meets the requirements of:
British Standard BS4994

Regina Surfacing Tissues are used to provide a corrosion resistant barrier in a composite part, the tissue being used for the inner corrosion barrier forming a resin rich layer and also in the external layer providing resin richness to meet additional weathering requirements.
Corrosion resistance of the glass used in all Regina products is Acid Class 1 (DIN 12 116), Alkali Class 2 (DIN 52 322) and Hydrolytic Class 3 (DIN 12 111)
Regina Glass Fibre Tissue for pipewrap is designed for use as a reinforcement and carrier for bitumen and asphalt inner and outer wrap on pipelines and cylinders that have to be resistant to natural and artificial corrosion attack, for example in buried steel pipelines. The tissue is inert with a high rate of insulation against stray electrical currents reducing risk of electrolytic corrosion.
The uniform porosity allows the bitumen to bleed through to give a constant pipe protection. It has a high resistance to moisture and micro-organisms and will not rot or decay.
This material is also used for sealing of land drainage pipes having high resistance to the acids and alkalis found in many soils.
Regina Pipewrap tissues meet the requirements of:
Australian Standard AS2045, 1977,
"Material Associated with the Coating and Lining of Steel Pipes with Coal Tar Primer/Enamel Systems".
The tissue is used as a protective membrane between the mould and the glass sheet, allowing optimum heat transfer and minimising risk of breakage in the glass bending process.
Regina Glass Tissues are used to form the separator plates in lead acid batteries, the glass tissue providing a corrosion resistant, highly porous tissue of uniform thickness that meets the compressibility needs of battery manufacturers.
These tissues can be supplied as described in the Product Details pdf.
Regina Glass Fibre Tissue is used to face mineral fibre or foam insulation substrates in both acoustical and thermal applications. The tissue assists in improving finish quality and appearance and is designed to flex with the substrate to allow for ease in fixing the final product.
Insulation faced with Regina tissue has minimal mineral fibre fall out and allows for easy handling and cutting of the insulation material.
This product can be supplied in a variety of colours to suit the application: black tissue is particularly suitable where insulation is visible.
Contact us if you have a specific colour requirement.
Regina Glass Tissue can be used as a reinforcement for paint systems on internal and external walls of buildings where hair-cracking has occurred.
The tissue is attached to the wall using the paint itself. The result is a smooth surface reinforced by a glass tissue which will not rot or decay providing an enhanced appearance.
Suitable for domestic and industrial situations including above ground steel piplines, oil storage tanks, smooth-faced plastered house walls, hospital corridors, cracked ceilings, and many other similar applications. CoverCrakZ binds masonry surfaces, covering cracks and crevices, preventing flaking and peeling. Being loosely bonded, CoverCrakZ moves with the substrate and does not crack with this movement. It is also suitable for cracked ceilings.
Regina Tissues can be used in a variety of applications where filtering of air or water is required, for example to keep dirt and debris away from septic tanks. Our P400UF is suitable for Filtration.
With Hydroponics our P300SA tissue is being used for Capillary/Spreader Matting these are used to line the bed of watering trays/tanks, which breaks the surface tension of the nutrient solution, ensuring it spreads evenly across the surface of the tray.
